In short
In the box, put the address of Warda as the only DNS server given to the devices, and as its IPv6 DNS server. A box that always gives its own DNS: turn its DHCP server off and let Warda give the addresses. Never start by turning IPv6 off. Check in Reports → Query log.
This chapter takes the internet boxes that Warda recognises, country by country. Each one says what the box lets you do, and where when we found it in an official page. Few are verified on the box itself: each entry says so.
The method, for every box#
The address of Warda. Network → Network analysis, How do I connect the network to Warda? shows Address of Warda on your network: this is the IPv4 address to give. Reserve it in the box first, so that it never changes (chapter 3, step 1). The IPv6 addresses of Warda are on the Network check card of the same page, each with Copy.
The three settings, in this order:
- The DNS given to the devices (IPv4). In the settings of the local network or of the DHCP server of the box, put the IPv4 address of Warda as the only DNS server. Leave the second server empty: a second server that is not Warda lets devices go around it.
- The IPv6 DNS. In the IPv6 settings of the box, have it announce the IPv6 address of Warda as its DNS server (router advertisements, RDNSS, or DHCPv6). If the box cannot, turn off only the announcement of its own IPv6 DNS. Never start by turning IPv6 off: it is the last resort only (chapter 10, The IPv6 of the box).
- When the box always gives its own DNS. Some boxes do not let you change the DNS server they give. Then let Warda give the addresses of the network: turn the DHCP server of the box off, and turn on the one of Warda (chapter 3, The DHCP server of Warda). Warda checks that no other server answers before it starts.
Check that it works. Turn the Wi-Fi of a device off and on again (or unplug its cable). Then:
- Reports → Query log: the queries show with the name of each device, not one single address for all;
- Network → Network analysis: the machines that use Warda show Yes, and the Network check card no longer shows a way around Warda (Check again runs it at once).

Free (Freebox)#
- DNS (IPv4): Freebox OS (
